Monday, June 22, the Asylum will be closed to the general public for a rare, unrestricted guided experience led by our most seasoned tour guides.
This in-depth tour covers all four floors of the Main Building, the Medical Center, the Criminally Insane Unit, and the Women’s Auxiliary Building. You will also explore a former lobotomy and recovery area and the oldest section of the hospital, originally constructed during the Civil War.
You’ll learn the full history of the Asylum, firsthand paranormal accounts, and the medical treatment methods used throughout its operation. No shortcuts. No highlights-only version. This is the full story.
This tour is physically demanding. Guests must be able to walk long distances and climb multiple flights of stairs.
Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the season, and bring a water bottle.

8:30 AM Check-in
9:00 AM Tour begins
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Tour
12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Lunch break
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Tour continues.
